Life is very good here in Ho Chi Minh City for us. This city is very alive and vibrant. The rythmn of the city reminds me of a combination of Boston's back bay and port areas, and of New York City's noise and chaos with millions of people living their daily lives. Saigon (really the downtown District) can be very intense on work days and Saturday nights! Felix and I tend to not go downtown too much at night, but rather stay in our area, Thao Dien, District 2 which is very quiet at that time.

Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1800's was modeled after the famous cathedral in Paris. For you art history buffs, it is neo-Romanesque with two 40meter-high towers tipped with iron spires. The Cathedral does not have any stained-glass windows. During WWII, the windows were damaged and never replaced or repaired.
The city is quite different in the night hours (after 7:00pm). People come out to enjoy the cooler air temperatures and socialize with their family and friends. Vietnamese people are very sociable and lively. They love to walk around the parks in the evenings at a leisurely pace. Felix and I enjoy walking at night around our quiet neighborhood too.

The buildings look so beautiful with their lights highlighting architectural accents. I plan to take more pictures of different buildings the next time we are downtown Saigon in the evenings.
