Random Pictures and Thoughts....

The night skyline and downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City...I love to see all the lights!  We don't go into the city at night very often, but we can always see the city lights from the roof top of our apartment building.  This first  picture was taken from the top floors of another building downtown.  The second picture was taken from 'our' side of the Saigon River (An Phu - District 2) by a small park on the water front.

On Friday, 13 April 2012 we (Latter-day Saint Charities) are delivering 80 Newborn Kits to Cu Chi Hospital in the Cu Chi District of HCMC.  It is located about 1 1/2 - 2 hours drive from our apartment (depending on the traffic).  This hospital delivers 70+ babies a day.  It is always an enjoyable opportunity for me to see all the new little babies!  

This is what my spare bedroom looks like at this moment...

We have signed contracts to complete four projects: three wheelchair distribution projects of 1,000 wheelchair going to poor and disabled people and one clean water treatment project which brings drinking water to four homeless children's shelters.

In the above picture, we are at HUFO with the Wheelchair Specialists, Kim and Gaye Brown.  We are meeting with them to discuss presenting two LDSC Wheelchair Assessment Training courses for our partnering NGO's in May 2012 prior to donating the 1,000 wheelchairs.

Here we are in front of the Kien Tuong Wheelchair Manufacturing Co. where all of our wheelchairs for HCMC and Hanoi are made.  Tuan Nguyen started the company (in the wheelchair) and his son, Quoc is the general manager.

We will be installing four water treatment systems into the Children's Shelters for WOCA (Women's Charity Association of HCMC).  We just love going to play with all the children at the beginning of their project and at the end.  An activity of games and treats is always included in our shelter projects!

The truly amazing women of WOCA...the two women on both ends of this picture are over 90 years old and they still volunteer their time for the homeless children of Ho Chi Minh!
